Matching Up
We partner with tutors who share our guiding principle:
Within every student there is great aptitude for learning and unlimited potential for personal growth.
Requirements may vary with the needs of particular students. However, we specifically seek tutors who share our values and:
- Enjoy working with and helping students
- Have a background in education or relevant tutoring experience
- Are subject matter experts, particularly for higher grade-levels
- Can commit to working at least two full school semesters
Teaming Up
After an initial meeting, TeamUP! will make sure specific requirements are met and check references to ensure your experiences and work ethics match our requirements. Assuming this process is successfully completed, you will be added to our referral database.
Since every tutor we place is a qualified professional, we do not provide a curriculum or monitor sessions. We do, however, offer guidelines that could increase your tutoring effectiveness.
TeamUP! partners with tutors who work as independent contractors. Tutors are not employees of TeamUP!. As a tutor, you are responsible for setting your own hours, scheduling student appointments at mutually convenient times, working with your own materials, and arranging for reliable transportation to and from each tutoring session.
Following each tutoring session, tutors are responsible for recording notes and reporting their hours.
TeamUP! manages student billing and is responsible for timely payments to the tutor. As required by IRS regulations, cumulative payments equal to or greater than $600 in a year will be reported on a Form 1099-Misc. Tutors are responsible for declaring their income. Please contact your accountant or tax attorney for advice.
